Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan writer and historian Miguel Júnior was honored this Friday, in Luanda, by the bookstore and publisher Mayamba as part of its program to recognize writers of literature called “Author of the Month”
Speaking to the press, the publisher’s founder, Arlindo Isabel, considered Miguel Júnior an author whose contributions in the field of reflection on war and military history are of great relevance to understanding the history of Angola.
He said he is one of the country’s best-referenced scholars at national and international level in relation to military studies in Angola and for being the publisher’s first writer.
He mentioned that the ceremony aims to highlight their work and merits, as well as drawing society’s attention to the importance of Angola’s military history, as it is part of the country’s general memory.
In turn, the honoree Miguel Júnior said that the publisher’s initiative arises from the fact that his works are sought after and objects of attention, queries and comments on the Mayamba website.
He pointed it out as a moment that forces him to work, improve, try harder and complete projects in his portfolio or start others, because what he has been doing is subject to appreciation and is subject to criticism from readers and the general public. .
Miguel Júnior is a Lieutenant General of the Angolan Armed Forces, having performed several roles, currently being commander of the Instituto Superior Técnico Militar (ISTM), professor of Military History and Strategic Thinking.
He has a degree in Scientific History from the Open University of Portugal, a Master’s degree in Military History from the Military Academy of Portugal and the University of the Azores, a PhD in History and Strategic Management and a post-doctorate in Human Studies from the International Atlantic University.
