Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Moxico, Ernesto Muangala, highlighted, this Monday, in Luena, the holding of the regional cooperation and exchange forum with the Northwest province (Zambia) as a window of opportunity to gather the Zambian experience on exploration of copper.
The minister was speaking during a courtesy meeting with the Zambian delegation, led by the minister (governor) of the Noroeste province, Robert Lihefu, within the framework of the Regional Cooperation and Exchange Forum between the provinces of Moxico and Noroeste, taking place from 30 October to November 2, in the city of Luena.
Muangala recalled that Zambia is one of the largest copper producers, knowledge that can be put to good use to acquire new skills.
Data indicates that the province of Moxico has a company that is carrying out prospecting to begin the mineral exploration process in the Upper Zambezi.
That municipality is located in a strategic area rich in copper mining, cobalt extraction and other metals.
The governor recalled that Angola and Zambia share deep and historical relations, which have lasted for many years.
In turn, Minister Robert Lihefu reiterated the construction of access roads between the two regions, as one of the priorities defended by the governments of both countries to boost growth and development, to improve the lives of the populations.
The Regional Cooperation and Exchange Forum between the province of Moxico and neighboring Zambia is the result of the fulfillment of the agreements signed at the beginning of the year in Luanda, during the visit of the President of the Republic of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, at the invitation of his Angolan counterpart, President João Lourenço.
According to the forum program, for four days, it is planned to present the potential of each province, in the economic, social and cultural domains.
During the meeting, work will be carried out by specialization committees, as well as visits to social infrastructures.
The province of Moxico shares 747 kilometers of land and river border with the Republic of Zambia.
