Africa-Press – Angola. The city of Luanda will host, this Saturday, the 4th, an extraordinary summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The information was provided, this Tuesday, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, after an exceptional virtual meeting, convened by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, in his capacity as president of the organization.

According to Tête António, the main objective of the remote meeting between SADC leaders was to analyze the situation in the DRC, with emphasis on the December 2023 elections.

The resolutions of the quadripartite summit in Luanda, in June 2023, which decided, among others, on the meeting of the region’s Chiefs of Staff, the deployment of forces in the East of DRC (SAMIR-DRC) and its budget also received support. analysis of the Presidents.

The statesmen decided, due to the sensitivity of the topics under discussion, to hold the meeting, extraordinary, in person, on November 4th in Luanda.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is an inter-governmental organization, created in 1992, dedicated to socio-economic cooperation and integration in the region, as well as cooperation in political and security matters.

The SADC region includes Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, eSwatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
