Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of the PRS in the province of Huambo, Soliya Selende, defended, this Tuesday, a more responsible and transparent management of public schools, with a focus on improving the quality of teaching/learning.

The politician, who was speaking to the press, at the end of a visit to primary school no48/ in the Capango neighborhood, on the outskirts of the city of Huambo, said it was important for school managers to have good conduct, with a view to better serving the student community and society. , in general.

He explained that the trip to the educational establishment resulted from several public complaints regarding the collection of contributions, non-compliance with payment of teachers and occasional administrative workers, as well as the requirement for parents and guardians to purchase Calligraphy materials.

Therefore, Soliya Selende advocates greater supervision of the Education office, for better management, seriousness and commitment to the teaching/learning process, aiming at the quality training of the country’s future staff.

He pointed out the lack of desks, classrooms, teachers and administrative workers that many educational institutions in the province of Huambo register, in particular school no48, as a factor compromising the quality of education that is sought.

In response, the director of primary school no48, Evaristo José Epalanga, informed that the collection of contributions, despite not being a legal procedure, as well as the purchase of Calligraphy materials, resulted from an agreement by the parents’ committee, with a view to improvement of the teaching/educational process.

He said that it is through contributions, agreed at three thousand Kwanzas/month, that the school management is able to pay the 10 teachers and occasional administrative workers, who have been without salaries for a few months, due to the failure of many parents and guardians. .

He mentioned that it was at the beginning of this school year, in a meeting, that the parents’ committee decided to contribute three thousand Kwanzas/month, to increase the number of teachers, with the aim of preventing dozens of children from being left out of the teaching/learning system.

Similar to this process, he added, the Capango community contributed to the requalification of school infrastructures, with the aim of improving the conditions of the teaching process.

In the current academic year, school no 48 enrolled, in 17 classrooms, two thousand 700 students, taught by 35 teachers, including 10 employees.
