Africa-Press – Angola. Angola participates from the 6th to the 10th of November of the current year, in the Plenary Meeting of the Kimberley Process, taking place in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

According to a note sent this Friday, several proposals presented during the first half of the current year, as well as the meeting held last October, will be under discussion.

The note also states that emphasis will be given to the definition subgroup, led by the World Diamond Council, Technical Assistance, chaired by the Republic of South Africa, the Main Document, by Botswana, and also the Good Governance Practices subgroup. , directed by India.

Zimbabwe assumes the rotating presidency of the Kimberley Process, with the United Arab Emirates as vice-president.

Representatives from 85 countries participating in the Kimberley Process International Certification System (SCPK), Industry and Civil Society are expected to attend the event.

The Angolan delegation will be led by the executive coordinator of the National Commission for the Kimberley Process (CNPK), Estanislau Buio, and includes the Executive Administrator of Endiama, Domingos Margarida, as well as staff from the National Commission for the Kimberley Process, ENDIAMA and SODIAM.

The Kimberley Process International System is the certification body for the origin of rough diamonds, established through Resolution 55/56 of 2000, of the United Nations General Assembly, which aims to guarantee that rough diamonds sold on the international market come from areas conflict free.
