Africa-Press – Angola. A 34-year-old citizen of Côte d’Ivoire was arrested over the weekend, in the mining town of Calonda, municipality of Lucapa, province of Lunda Norte, for allegedly trafficking 18 portions of cocaine.
The information was provided this Monday by the spokesperson for the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Lunda Norte, Graciano Lumanhi, highlighting that the seizure of the drugs and the consequent detention of the suspect resulted from criminal intelligence work and a warrant search issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, due to strong evidence of possession and sale of drugs.
He added that the SIC found, through investigations, that the majority of drug customers were foreign citizens residing in Angola.
The source stated that the alleged drug dealer purchases the drug in Luanda, the capital of Angola, and sells it for four thousand and five hundred kwanzas per portion, with the help of a 39-year-old Angolan citizen, his girlfriend, also detained.
He said that in addition to the drugs, 239 thousand kwanzas and 50 dollars were seized that were in the possession of the alleged drug dealer, resulting from the sale of the drug.
The two suspects will be sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to formalize the accusation.
This is the first case of seizure of hard drugs recorded this year in the province of Lunda Norte.
