Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, stated, this Monday, in Caxito, Bengo, that the Angolan State will stop building centralities, after building those announced for the provinces of Cuanza Norte, Malanje, Zaire and Cabinda.

Speaking to the press, after inaugurating the Teresa Afonso Gomes Centrality, João Lourenço said that the State is responsible for creating policies to make construction materials, which must be produced locally, cheaper and to build so-called social housing, unlike centralities.

He explained that the issue of housing is the responsibility of several actors, namely the private, cooperative sector and the citizen himself, within the framework of directed self-construction, and the State is just one of them.

The centralities to be built, he said, in the aforementioned provinces, will be built and after that the State will do what it is responsible for, that is, build social housing and create policies to encourage the private sector, as well as prepare and create infrastructure for auto -construction.

He said that housing cooperatives, existing or yet to be created, must also do their part, just as businessmen can invest, if they wish, in building housing or investing in this sector.

In recent years, the Government has built 14 centralities, with around 39 thousand homes, separately in Luanda, Benguela, Bié, Cuanza Sul, Huambo, Huíla, Namibe, Moxico and Uíge.

Luanda is the province with the most built centralities, namely Kilamba, Sequele, Vida Pacífica, Zango Zero, KK5000, Zango 8000 and 44.

On the other hand, the Head of State announced that the road between Caxito and Nambuangongo will be rehabilitated soon, as the competent ministerial department has been instructed to urgently treat this small section.
