Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, has already left the province of Bengo, heading to Luanda, after inaugurating the Teresa Afonso Gomes General and Centrality Hospital, in the Bucula area, in the city of Caxito.

The “Reverendo Guilherme Pereira English” General Hospital has a capacity for 200 beds, 15 clinical areas distributed in 24 blocks, six residences for professionals and a hemodialysis center.

The first 486 housing units in the Centrality of Bucula, out of a thousand planned, will mainly benefit public employees.

During his visit lasting a few hours to Caxito, the President of the Republic, who was accompanied by ministers of State and heads of ministerial departments, also met with members of the Government of the province of Bengo.

At the meeting, governor Maria Antónia Nelumba presented the region’s economic and social development situation, with emphasis on projects linked to health, education and communication routes.

Speaking to the press, the Head of State highlighted that the Executive has made a notable investment in the social sector, particularly in health, with the construction of new well-equipped hospital units across the country, as well as in the training and admission of new professionals in the sector.

In relation to cases of medical negligence, the Holder of the Executive Branch assured that the necessary measures have been taken, ruling out that there has been impunity for the specific cases.

In another area, President João Lourenço said that the Executive will maintain its commitment to building the centralities already announced, namely those in Malanje, Cuanza-Norte, Mbanza Congo, Soyo and Cabinda.

He indicated that, after this, there will be no more construction of centralities by the State.

João Lourenço clarified, in this regard, that the issue of housing is the responsibility of several actors, the State being one of them.

“There must be other actors, the private, cooperative sector and the citizen himself, within the framework of self-construction”, he maintained.
