The MPLA encourages the Angolan people to deeply reflect on the importance of National Independence, which is marked (11 November), and urges all Angolans to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the historic date, honoring national heroes, with an emphasis on António Agostinho Neto, whose legacy strengthens love for the country and dedication to work.
The appeal is contained in a note from the Political Bureau of the party’s Central Committee, alluding to the anniversary, in which this political formation considers “National Independence Day” to be an unavoidable milestone in the history of the nation, which culminated in the proclamation of independence in 1975, and, in honor and celebration of the date, pays tribute to all the Angolan people.
“The Political Bureau of the MPLA Central Committee encourages deep reflection on the importance of this day and urges all Angolans to celebrate the 48th Anniversary of National Independence, honoring National Heroes, with an emphasis on António Agostinho Neto, whose legacy strengthens love to the country and dedication to work”, the document reads.
Despite the current challenges, the note states, the MPLA has been working hard and expects collective thinking aimed at national development.
According to the declaration, “In 48 years of independence, we have celebrated notable achievements on the path to peace and sustainable development, such as modern infrastructure, and improvements in health, energy and water, education and transport networks”.
Likewise, this party structure welcomes the construction of the New International Airport in honor of Dr. António Agostinho Neto, a key figure in the fight for freedom, and recognizes the importance of continuing to invest in critical areas to build an Angola more prosperous and inclusive.
He reaffirms his commitment to preserving the independence and realizing the aspirations of the Angolan people, in this fight for dignity, equality and justice, “as we are aware that together, we will shape the destiny of the nation with courage and hope”.
According to the document, the Political Bureau will continue to perform its functions in the spirit that “the most important thing is to solve the people’s problems”, inspired by the words of António Agostinho Neto, during the proclamation of National Independence, when he stated that “the The flag that flies is a symbol of freedom, the fruit of the selfless love of the Angolan people.”
The party also urges all Angolans to maintain belief in the future of Angola, anchored in achievements and results of inclusive and democratic governance, reaffirming principles and values, aiming for a brighter future and the construction of a more developed, democratic and inclusive Angola .
This Saturday, the country celebrates the 48th anniversary of national independence, the central event of which takes place in the province of Lunda Sul, under the motto “11 November: United for the development of Angola.
