Ambassador highlights partnership between Angola and Spain

Africa-Press – Angola. The ambassador of Angola to the Kingdom of Spain, Alfredo Dombe, highlighted, this Saturday, in Madrid, the partnership between the two States in contributing to the economic growth and social development of Angolans.

The diplomat, who spoke at the official event in reference to the 48th Anniversary of National Independence, highlighted the participation of Spanish companies in the construction of health, school and industrial infrastructures, among other projects, in various locations across the country.

To this end, he recalled that Spain was one of the first Western countries to recognize Angola’s independence and both established diplomatic relations in 1987, with the signing of a general cooperation agreement in May of that year.

“In the higher education sector, there is the International University of Cuanza, in the city of Cuito, Bié province, with degrees in engineering, health sciences, educational sciences and social and human sciences”, he reinforced.

According to the head of the Angolan Diplomatic Mission in the Kingdom of Spain, the creation of this university, the first Spanish bilingual higher education institution in Angola, in 2020, is a demonstration of the important role that the country plays on the African continent, participating in the perfect articulation of the multinational space of Iberophony.

Alfredo Dombe recognized that Angola has become a strategic country for Spain’s external growth in Africa, taking into account the level of relations, demonstrated during the visit of King Philip VI, the first by a Spanish monarch to a State in Sub-Saharan Africa.

With these, he said, and other actions, it can easily be concluded that relations between Angola and Spain are on the right track.

He reiterated Angola’s confidence, with international collaboration and support from partners, in continuing to reach new heights to position the country on the path of economic and social development, thus fulfilling the desires of everyone who gave their lives for cause of freedom.

On the other hand, the president of the Association of Angolans in Spain, Paulina Capitão, stated that by celebrating the most important act by the Angolan people, tribute is paid to those who spared no effort or their own lives to achieve the long-awaited and long-awaited freedom. .

The week of November 11th was marked, in Spain, by several activities, from a consultation with association leaders, the unveiling of the plaque and bust of the first President and Founder of the Nation, António Agostinho Neto, the holding of a mass of thanksgiving, promoted by the community of Angolan Missionaries.
