Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, considered, this Tuesday, in Accra, Ghana, that reparations to African countries that were victims of colonialism is a matter of justice towards the history of the continent and respect for their ancestors.

When speaking on behalf of the President of the Republic, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, at the Reparations Conference, in the Ghanaian capital, the Angolan ruler highlighted the need for a joint effort by all African nations that were victims of the colonial yoke in seeking reparations compensatory.

The Accra Reparations Conference, which will be attended by several African dignitaries, will take place between the 13th and 17th of November 2023, linked to the motto “Building a United Front to promote the cause of justice and the payment of reparations to Africans ”, and aims, among other aspects, to identify opportunities for collaboration in the cause of reparations and justice.

Angola lived for another 500 years under the yoke of Portuguese colonialism, at which time it lost thousands of its best children and a large part of its natural resources.
