Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Filipe Zau, highlighted, on Monday, in Luanda, the search for integrated measures in the development of activities and applications of intellectual property in preventing and combating piracy.
When speaking at the Forum on the national intellectual property system for political decision-makers and intervening institutions under the theme “The challenges of innovative creation and protection of intellectual property in Angola”, he said it was necessary to focus on institutional mechanisms for regular intervention among those involved in this national system.
Given its transversal nature, he highlighted that it requires the involvement and participation of different sectors, which is why the idea of the need to create an inter-ministerial monitoring body emerges.
Filipe Zau explained that this body will easily harmonize public policies, which allow the development of creative activities, the application of innovations, as well as the effective protection of intellectual protection.
“The promotion of the use and exploitation of the intellectual property system, through the massification of knowledge about the management of intellectual property, allowing the integration of creators and rural communities that hold traditional knowledge in the production process, improving their income for development,” said the minister.
According to the holder of the culture and tourism portfolio, the development of cultural and creative industries contributes greatly to the diversification of the economy, as long as the dynamic sense of national culture comes to be validated and valued, through a sense of identity, as well as the biggest investment.
The government official highlighted a guiding document for joint action, which establishes actions and goals to be implemented for the development and protection of intellectual property, aiming to achieve its objectives and ends.
Therefore, he stressed on deepening to consolidate in a concrete way to give greater meaning to future actions, regarding institutional cooperation for the development and protection of intellectual property.
The event, which brought together several entities, is aimed at representatives of the Executive Branch, Judicial Branch, Ombudsman’s Office, public and private services, as well as professional and business institutions.
The objective is to approach, in a multi-sectoral and holistic way, innovation and the protection of intellectual property, aiming to find appropriate measures to mitigate acts of piracy.
