Africa-Press – Angola. Angola discussed, this Tuesday, in New York, ways to increase the country’s visibility at the United Nations, through greater sharing of information and the country’s experience on issues and programs on the global agenda.
The matter was addressed during a meeting between the Permanent Representative of Angola to the United Nations in New York, Francisco José da Cruz, and the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Angola, Zahira Virani.
During the meeting, the two entities addressed issues related to Angola’s participation in the work of the 78th Session of the General Assembly, as well as the country’s main priorities.
They recognized the weak representation of Angolan staff in the United Nations system and the need to correct this situation with the implementation of an appropriate strategy for this purpose.
The two diplomats addressed the importance of high-level visits for strengthening cooperation between the United Nations and Angola.
On the occasion, diplomat Francisco José da Cruz highlighted Angola’s priorities, which include peace and security, reform of the United Nations and the international financial system, sustainable development, human rights and climate change.
In turn, Zahira Virani reiterated the United Nations’ desire to continue supporting Angola to achieve its goals.
