Ambassador urges economic operators to take advantage of reforms

Africa-Press – Angola. Angola’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Júlio Maiato, appealed this Tuesday, in Abu Dhabi, to economic operators to continue participating in the development process of the Angolan economy, making the most of reforms ongoing in the country.

The diplomat was speaking at the event commemorating the 48th anniversary of National Independence, marked on November 11th, having mentioned the Privatization programs (Propriv), Production Support, Export Diversification and Import Substitution (Prodesi) and the National Development Plan for Grain Production (Planagrãos).

The head of Angolan diplomacy in this Persian Gulf country highlighted, among other aspects, the need for interest groups to take advantage of the facilitation and exemption of entry visas, opened by the Angolan Government, for citizens of 98 countries.

“We are available to guide any interested party and the Angolan authorities are open to welcoming any tourist or businessman”, he stated.

The Government of Angola recently determined the exemption of tourist visas for 98 countries, including the United Arab Emirates.

During his speech, Júlio Maiato also referred to the new Luanda International Airport “Dr. António Agostinho Neto”, inaugurated on the 10th of this month, an imposing unit that, in his view, will boost economic growth and open up new business opportunities and bring people together.

The airport infrastructure will handle 15 million passengers/year and 130 thousand tons of cargo will be transported per year, helping to grow tourism in the country.

The ambassador also spoke about expectations surrounding the holding of COP28, from November 30th to December 12th this year, at Expo City Dubai, in which Angola participates with a high-level delegation.

In this sense, it encourages the authorities of the United Arab Emirates who intend to transform COP28 into a milestone for attracting investments and greater commitment from Governments, the private sector, international organizations and NGOs, within the framework of implementing the energy transition and environmental protection.

The Angolan Government determined the primary objectives to develop the country as an enormous task, such as promoting economic diversification, aiming to gradually reduce dependence on oil, to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth.

One of the five axes of the “Angola Long-Term Strategy – 2050”, recently approved by the Government, is to have a diversified and prosperous economy, with an emphasis on the Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing, Manufacturing, Mineral Resources and Tourism sectors.
