Africa-Press – Angola. A school with seven classrooms was inaugurated this Thursday in the municipality of Luacano, in the province of Moxico, as part of the implementation of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities.

This is the second PIIM teaching infrastructure opened in the region, with a budget of 122 million kwanzas.

This infrastructure, with the capacity to accommodate over 600 students in two periods, was built in the Thop neighborhood, within 18 months, by the company ANGO SORTE commerce and provision of services, Lda.

On the occasion, the municipal administrator of Luacano, Cândido Cangolo, urged the population to take care of the heritage, with a view to benefiting several generations of the municipality.

According to data, the education sector in Luacano currently has 13 schools, corresponding to 109 classrooms.

The region lacks 56 classrooms to cover a population estimated at more than 24,824 inhabitants.

In the current academic year (2023/2024), six thousand students were enrolled, provided by 234 teachers, while 1,900 children were left out of the education system due to a shortage of classrooms.
