Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Ombudsman, Florbela Araújo, defended, this Wednesday, “rigority, justice and legality” in meeting the deadline for applications for the position of president of the Association of African Ombudsmen and Mediators (AOMA), during the 24th preparation meeting for the 7th General Assembly, which will elect the new person responsible.
Regarding the approach, he was in favor of the recommendation, having proposed that the resolution benefit Cape Verde and Mauritius, for institutional reasons within the domain of the members.
During the meeting, in virtual format, he proposed, on the other hand, the stipulation of requirements for better control of payment exemption, with a view to safeguarding the organization, as it is a self-sustainable body, being monitored by audit bodies financial.
The Ombudsman of Rwanda and President of AOMA, Madeleine Nirere, assured that the technical and operational conditions have been created for the General Assembly, on the 28th, in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, and the presence of 18 members has been confirmed, including which, the institution Ombudsman of Justice of Angola.
Among other issues addressed, the members of the AOMA Executive Committee recommended the creation of a Technical Committee, assisted by the organization’s Research Center, to prepare a proposal for a Resolution on Exemption from payment of Dues, for a determined period, with the responsibility of each member must submit their contribution to the document by the 20th of this month.
During the meeting, the status of the auditor’s report for AOMA’s accounts was presented and the minutes of the previous meeting were approved by consensus. Members also reviewed the nomination process for the Executive Committee and Presidency, justification for absent Members, quorum and Volunteering in South Africa.
