Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the National Assembly (AN), Carolina Cerqueira, received this Friday, in an audience, the ambassador of Algeria in Angola, Abdelhakim Mihoubi, with whom she discussed aspects linked to the strengthening of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking to the press, upon leaving the meeting, the Algerian diplomat said that they had analysed, in particular, the creation of an inter-parliamentary friendship committee, as well as matters relating to a visit to Algeria by the leader of the Angolan House of Laws, which waiting for the beginning of next year.
In general, Abdelhakim Mihoubi considered the relations between the two States to be very good and historic, which he said had existed since the colonial period, and expressed his desire to see them strengthened.
According to the ambassador, the moment was also used to talk about issues related to the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian region of Gaza, especially the role that parliaments can play in “helping” those populations and the need to provide support with goods such as food, water and fuels.
“And in this context, I greatly appreciate Angola’s position regarding the situation in Gaza, in particular the position expressed by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço”, highlighted the diplomat.
Angola and Algeria cooperate in several areas, including oil and education.
