Africa-Press – Angola. The 10th edition of the SIRIUS award, opened this Monday, in Luanda, highlights projects aimed at diversifying the economy.
According to the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, president of the award jury, the seven categories, unlike the previous eight, reflect the most important areas of Angola’s development, at the present moment and with an eye on the future.
Companies of the Year, in the Financial Sector and Non-Financial Sector, Entrepreneurship, Social Responsibility, Manager of the Year, Digital/Technology Development Program and Human Capital Development are part of the award.
In addition to these categories, the First Lady of the Republic said that there will be a special award, to be announced only at the award gala, as well as the revelation of all the winners, in an event scheduled for April 2024.
Under the motto “Lead the way, transform the future”, competition applications are open on the website www.premiosirius.com until February 2, 2024.
Ana Dias Lourenço said that, as the country is undergoing changes, “the path of progress must be with recognition of the effort and resilience of the organizations and personalities that stood out most in creating value and boosting the diversification of the economy”.
“It is important to continue to distinguish good business management practices in projects with an impact on economic and social development”, he reinforced.
For the First Lady, actions of this kind contribute to an organizational culture of excellence, as only with dynamism in entrepreneurship can Angola face the future with greater security.
For his part, the president of Deloitte Angola, José Barata, said that the objective of the SIRIUS award is to achieve excellence and contribute to the improvement of the country.
He pointed out that Angola is a country with potential and has businesspeople willing to contribute to achieving this goal, hence the reason for the award, at a time of reforms to improve the business environment.
Interested companies and economic agents from the country’s 18 provinces must submit applications, starting by expressing interest on the aforementioned portal.
This manifestation, presented as a novelty in that edition, he indicated, will allow candidacy for one or more awards from the seven existing categories, which will make all other subsequent steps simpler.
He explained that the award will result from a direct deliberation by the members of the jury.
The SIRIUS award is an initiative that aims to distinguish good business management practices and projects with an impact on Angolan economic/social development.
The first edition of the Sirius award took place in 2011.
