Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State of São Tomé and Príncipe, Carlos Vila Nova, considered, this Wednesday, in Luanda, the training of young Africans to be promoters of peace as essential.

Speaking on the theme “Young people, actors in promoting the culture of peace and social transformations on the continent”, at the III Luanda Biennale, Carlos Vila Nova said that the way in which young people are mobilized “must create this culture of peace in itself”.

In the statesman’s view, it is necessary to strengthen the capacity of young people, both individually and in youth organizational structures, so that they can more easily contribute to a better world, “ensuring this culture of peace”.

“Nobody gains anything from conflicts. We only keep pain, resentment and problems after problems”, said Carlos Vila Nova.

The 3rd edition of the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence – Luanda Biennial runs until the 24th of this month, under the motto: “Education, Culture of Peace and African Citizenship as Tools for the Development of the Continent” .

The event will address in six panels the themes “Young people, actors in promoting the culture of peace and social transformations on the continent/High Level Dialogue”, “Technology and education as tools to achieve gender equality”, “The role of women in peace, security and development processes” and “The process of transforming educational systems: innovative practices and financing in the African context”.

“The challenges and opportunities of the integration of the African continent and the prospects for economic growth”, “climate change, ethical challenges, impact, adaptation and vulnerability”.
