Africa-Press – Angola. The Ombudsman’s Office in the province of Cunene is reinforcing strategies to improve services and increasingly improve the legal culture of citizens, through the expansion of knowledge and detailed information.
The fact was announced last Friday by the head of the Ombudsman’s Office in Cunene, Eusébio Vaendwanawa, on the sidelines of the lecture on ‘dignity, freedom and justice for all’, addressed to law students, lawyers and jurists.
On the occasion, the provider said that strengthening the relationship with the public means identifying challenges and opportunities in favor of defending the rights, freedoms and guarantees of citizens, with particular emphasis on rural communities.
He said that the lecture aimed to increase the level of legal culture of citizens, so that they know their rights, freedoms and fundamental guarantees, as well as being encouraged to speak out in case of violation of their rights.
He explained that they will expand the spaces for debate and harmonize the way public and private entities act, in situations of equal circumstances under the law, as well as valuing the legal and social education of the population.
Eusébio Vaendwanawa admitted that there has been, in recent years, more openness on the part of citizens, due to the expressions of indignation that some public institutions have been taking in public debates.
For his part, speaker José Carmona highlighted the need for the Executive to implement viable policies to solve problems linked to extreme poverty, hunger, inequality and regional asymmetries, factors that can promote injustice and harm citizens’ social stability.
He also highlighted that the humanization of services in public administration bodies, particularly in the health sector, has to do with the dignity of the human person.
However, he recognized the progress in promoting legal culture in the country, having requested greater collaboration from everyone, in particular from the Social Communication bodies, with a view to promoting a culture of action.
The lecture is part of the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, marked on December 10th.
