Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Huíla, Nuno Mahapi, expressed today, Wednesday, in Lubango, the need to invest more in improving road infrastructure, efficient public transport and innovative solutions to guarantee more accessible and sustainable.
Huíla has 64 public buses, 15 of which are out of order. The means transport an average of 504 people/day, each, insufficient for the more than three million inhabitants.
In addition to the urban and peri-urban area of Lubango, of the total number of resources in operation, three operate on the Lubango/Humpata intercity section and another four on the Lubango/Matala route.
The official who spoke at the traditional end-of-year greetings, stated that the Government of Huíla intends to continue the path of addressing challenges and exploring opportunities, to make the province’s roads safer and more efficient.
Despite the commitment made by the Government, Nuno Mahapi urged the business class to invest in the sector, so that together they can overcome obstacles and create a favorable environment for the segment.
He reaffirmed that other objectives of his governance include strengthening essential sectors, such as health, education, public transport and infrastructure, investing in innovative projects, to boost economic and social development.
“Removing a good portion of children who studied outdoors and those who are outside the education system, promoting pedagogical innovations and ensuring equitable access to education throughout the province is our focus, with the goal being to create an educational environment that inspires creativity, constructive criticism and the search for knowledge”, he added.
For the governor, agriculture plays a fundamental role in the region, not only in food production, but also in preserving traditions and strengthening community ties, which is why he recognizes the challenges faced by family and industrial agriculture, from the essential climatic conditions even economic issues.
He called for civic awareness and responsibility in relation to public goods, as the preservation of public goods is not only the guarantee of a more pleasant environment, but reflects a commitment to sustainability and respect for common heritage, a task for everyone.
To this end, Nuno Mahapi called for the engagement of all citizens to build an increasingly prosperous and inclusive Huíla.
