Africa-Press – Angola. Five hundred and five elderly people, of which 210 are former OMA leaders in the province of Huambo, celebrated this Thursday, an early Christmas, promoted by the Executive Secretariat of this MPLA women’s organization.
The party, held at the communal headquarters of Chipipa, 22 kilometers from the city of Huambo, was marked by music, dances and the distribution of cloths and scarves to former OMA leaders, to remember the golden times of militancy.
On the occasion, the secretary of the OMA in the province of Huambo, Celina Luvindja, said that the early Christmas party with the former leaders of the female “branch” of the MPLA aimed to provide moments of affection and love for the elderly, who worked hard for the growth of the organization in this region of the country.
According to the party leader, the Chipipa commune has many former OMA leaders, so the organization could not let Christmas pass without providing a festive and happy moment for these elderly women.
Albertina Calumba, an OMA activist since 1979, considered the initiative to be a very significant moment of solidarity, as it demonstrated, above all, love for others, peace and respect for history.
The elderly woman, who was once the communal secretary of OMA in Chipipa, between 2006 and 2020, called on the new generation to always comply with the organization’s guidelines and statutes, as well as to invest in raising awareness among more women.
Esperança Cassinda, an OMA activist since 1990, was happy for the moment of celebration provided and encouraged the Angolan Executive to invest more in the productive and agricultural sector, with a focus on diversifying the national economy.
OMA was founded in 1961 in Leopoldville, now the Democratic Republic of Congo, by a group of Angolan women, members of the philanthropic association called “Kudiango”.
