Africa-Press – Angola. The proposal for the country’s new political-administrative division will be sent to Parliament in the coming days, after consideration by the Council of Ministers and the Republic.
“We will present a bill in the coming days that will allow the country to have a total of 20 provinces, by dividing the current territories of the provinces of Moxico and Cuando Cubango and elevating 161 communes and urban districts to the category of municipalities,” he said. the Minister of Territorial Administration, Dionísio da Fonseca, cited by Rádio Nacional.
The minister also added that these are territorial districts that already exist, in some cases, with administrative facilities and employees.
The provinces of Uíge, Malanje and Lunda-Norte will have the largest number of communes to bring populations even closer together.
In the case of Luanda, Dionísio da Fonseca also informs about the creation of new municipalities, namely Kilamba, Estalagem and Calumbo, the latter which will bring together the neighborhoods of Zango 1, 2, 3 and 5.
