Africa-Press – Angola. The Municipal Administration of Malanje guaranteed the mobilization of technical resources, for the replacement of a short section of the bridge over the Ngola River, in the commune of Ngola Luige, which collapsed on Thursday as a result of the rains.
The metal bridge, 15 meters long and 4.20 meters wide, had one end give way due to the landslide and consequent disintegration of the base, caused by the floods that fell over the region.
The guarantee was given by the advisor for the technical area of the municipal administrator of Malanje, Adilson Dulo, at the end of a visit integrated by technicians from the Provincial Government of Malanje, Administration and the Angolan Roads Institute (INEA), which aimed to survey the damage.
The official assured that the bridge will be restored within a few days, taking into account its importance for the movement of people and goods.
In addition to the bridge over the Ngola River, he said the increase in the flow of the Kiluije River is a concern, where a crossing is planned to be placed, with a view to facilitating mobility.
In turn, the communal administrator of Ngola Luije, Jesus Rangel Augusto, said that the collapse of the bridge is affecting access to social services such as health and education for families, despite the alternative passage made of tree trunks to facilitate the crossing of pedestrians.
The commune of Ngola Luije is 35 kilometers from the municipal headquarters of Malanje.
