Africa-Press – Angola. Membership for various types of insurance and pension funds for sportspeople in Angola remains far from the desired number, according to the advisor to the ENSA Board of Directors, Muluta Prata.

Speaking this Tuesday, in Luanda, on the “Social protection of sports practitioners”, he stated that this is due to the poor knowledge of institutions and athletes on the subject.

In front of an audience of practitioners, former practitioners, sports directors and guests, Muluta Prata therefore defended the holding of similar lectures with a view to clarifying doubts, as well as presenting the benefits of these during and after his career.

He said that the issue of little knowledge on the subject worries the Government, as the profession of sportsman is ephemeral and exposed to risks that could bring forward retirement.

According to the speaker, adherence to these instruments prevents players and other sports agents from becoming financially deprived after their career, in the event of disability or even to compensate direct heirs if the beneficiary dies.

The speaker cited 1.o de Agosto, Petro de Luanda, Sagrada Esperança, FC Bravos do Maquis and Desportivo da Huíla as the clubs that have already expressed interest in securing their assets, while others, which he did not mention, are awaiting renewal.

The activity also had the head of department of ENSA’s technical life department, Domingos Almeida, as a speaker, presenting the topic “Pension Fund”.

This activity to refresh knowledge on the two important topics in the life of an athlete, was organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MINJUD), as part of the festivities of National Sports Day, celebrated on January 23rd.
