Africa-Press – Angola. The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in the province of Cunene detained, last week, in Xangongo, the former administrator of the municipal hospital of Ombadja, Eusébio Ndelekelasi, on suspicion of embezzlement.
The former person responsible is suspected of committing the crime of embezzlement, consisting of the illicit appropriation of two vehicles, both Toyota, Hilux and Land Cruiser models in the period between 2012 and January 2024.
The information was provided this Wednesday by the SIC spokesperson in Cunene, inspector Beloune Carlos, during the presentation of the results of “Operation Barometer”, which took place from the 8th to the 13th of this month in the six municipalities of the province.
He explained that, at his consulate, the person in question took the vehicles to his residence in the Naipalala neighborhood, city of Ondjiva, which constituted a crime since the resources belonged to the State and were placed at the service of the hospital institution.
He reported that a Hilux model vehicle has already been recovered, while the Land Cruiser the suspect claims to have left in a workshop for repairs, with the corporation working to locate it.
On the other hand, the SIC clarified the case of a 14-year-old girl, who on the 8th of the current month, simulated her mother, through her colleague, leaving school, having been kidnapped by unknown individuals who were being transported in a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 brand vehicle.
He explained that after an audio circulated on social media, given by a teacher from the aforementioned Okapale II primary school, SIC specialists carried out the necessary searches.
The investigations carried out determined that it was false news, as the alleged victim was at the residence of another friend, in the company of her alleged boyfriends.
Operation Barometer in Cunene
During the aforementioned operation, SIC recovered several assets, with emphasis on five butane gas cylinders, five plasma TVs, a gas stove, a mattress, engine and gearbox from the Hilux Raider vehicle, three motorbikes, seven cell phones, which will be handed over to the rightful owners.
He clarified that three individuals were arrested and another 13 suspects found in places prone to committing crimes were arrested, who were catalogued, counseled and released.
In turn, the director of the second cycle school complex in Oulondelo, in Ondjiva, Esperança Ndapanda, who saw the institution’s four doors restored, expressed satisfaction and praised the work and dynamism of the National Police.
He made it known that the theft of the three aluminum doors and one wooden door involved a security guard assigned to a private company to control State property, who pretended to be a robber at night.
He reported that he confessed to the crime, and his arrest was due to the collaboration of students, parents and guardians, who, after being informed about what had happened, became alert and found him selling the doors.
Citizen Messias Reis, who received his plasma TV, valued the stance of the SIC experts.
Beloune Carlos appealed to the population to continue reporting crimes that occur in the community to the police authorities, to allow operational actions to combat crime.
