Africa-Press – Angola. A financial education campaign in higher education institutions in Malanje was opened Monday, in this city, by the Northeast Regional Delegation of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), aiming to instill in students the habit of saving.
The day covered the Institutos Superiores Politécnicos da Catepa (ISCAT) and Dom Alexandre Cardeal do Nascimento (ISPCAN) and was marked by lectures on financial education, as part of the XII edition of the global money week, running until the 22nd of this month.
The activity takes place simultaneously in the provinces of Luanda, Cabinda, Huambo, Huíla, Namibe, Cunene, Cuanza-Sul, Moxico, Uíge and Cuando-Cubango, where for six days the population is called upon to adopt saving habits and open bank accounts and electronic currencies.
According to the head of the Supervision and Monitoring of Financial Education Programs Sector of the Northeast Regional Directorate of the BNA, Faustino João, who spoke on the topic, highlighted the need for citizens to devise mechanisms for more effective management of their financial resources, understanding the monetary processes and products.
He stated that by understanding and mastering these assumptions, the individual begins to gain financial education and consequently save money, spending only what is necessary.
He said that with this, citizens contribute to a robust economy in the country, since with their savings, the State concentrates liquidity to finance projects and achieve economic diversification.
The campaign also aims to reach children, so that they can begin to obey the principle of protecting and saving money from an early age, through various techniques.
The financial education campaign in educational institutions, in Malanje, was launched in October 2023, at the Patrice Lumumba primary school, followed by informal markets, aiming to educate teachers and students, as well as the general public about savings, financial decision making, among other aspects of financial literacy.
