IGAE launches appeal for rigor in the management of public affairs

Africa-Press – Angola. The Inspector-General of State Administration (IGAE), João Pinto, urged, this Monday, in Benguela, that public servants must, within the scope of their powers, strictly comply with the assumptions of legality and avoid acting inappropriately. faith in the management of public affairs.

João Pinto was speaking on the sidelines of the courtesy meeting with the provincial governor of Benguela, Luís Nunes, as part of the two-day working visit to the lands of Acácias Rubras.

According to the inspector general of IGAE, public servants must work and look at the main focus of the mission, which is collective satisfaction, even in difficult times, having discouraged violations of the principles of legality.

The Government and the Holder of the Executive Power, he indicated, propose that in any social phase, even in a period of economic containment and necessity, everyone must dedicate themselves to work, be zealous and loyal to their hierarchical superiors.

According to the person in charge, it is when difficulties arise that everyone must do their best to overcome problems, highlighting that no one overcomes difficulties by always complaining, but overcome obstacles when as a team we try to achieve the objectives.

João Pinto also highlighted the relevance of acting ethically and respecting legality, highlighting that both public servants and any other professional have the obligation to respect the code of ethics and deontology.

Human beings make mistakes and fail, he admits, warning, however, that it is unacceptable to act in bad faith or make mistakes with the purpose of causing harm. “There must be no conscious error with the aim of causing harm”, he warned.

According to João Pinto, IGAE will continue to work to comply with legal principles in Public Administration. The laws have existed for 30 years, he highlighted, stressing that a plural and democratic society must be attentive to problems, which is why he reminded public servants about the function of guaranteeing the public interest and creating the spirit of reestablishing trust between citizens and not the environment of fear, ridicule and demotivation.

The inspector general of the State Administration said that those who work must be respected and supported. He added that anyone who makes a mistake and admits it should be corrected and not discouraged.

João Pinto also highlighted that, in the meeting with the provincial governor of Benguela, an attempt was also made to put some issues on the agenda, having called for work, each within the framework of their competences, without interference in the work of IGAE, warning of respect for the principle of legality, but always satisfying the collective needs of citizens.

When asked about IGAE’s guidelines for action, João Pinto differentiated the role of the PGR institution, which according to him has its own functions, which is Criminal Action in defense of legality, while IGAE has the function of respecting legality in Public Administration.

João Pinto recalled that the President of the Republic instructed him, in his inauguration speech, to differentiate competences, guaranteeing that his body will, indeed, continue to work in cooperation with the competent bodies of the PGR, when required.

After passing through the provinces of Cuando Cubango, Cunene, Huíla and Namibe, it is the first time that the inspector general of the State Administration (IGAE) visits the province of Benguela, to find out about the organization of the sector, guide the services and bring up issues related to ethics, in the sense of the relationship with citizens, especially “the duty of civility, which we sometimes fail in courtesy”.
