Africa-Press – Angola. Three Angolans are among the 50 most influential figures on the African cultural scene who will be honored on April 27th, at the Philharmonic Theater in Paris, the French capital.

Selected last January by the French magazine “Le Point”, they are Nituecheni Africano (writer), Tchongolola Tchongonga – Ekuikui VI (King of Bailundo) and Jeremias Piedade Chissanga (director of the office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports in the province from Huambo).

According to a publication in this magazine from the European country, the first names that stand out are three Angolans, residing in the province of Huambo, Central Plateau of Angola, for the “valuable and eye-catching” contribution they have made to the cultural panorama of the African continent.

The writer Nituecheni Africano, literary pseudonym of Eugénio Afonso Gaspar, confirmed to Press that he had received an invitation from the management of Le Point, one of the three main news magazines in France, published weekly in Paris and which has highlighted, in its pages, figures from various cultural fringes around the world, on February 18th.

Figure number one on the list, the 33-year-old writer Nituecheni Africano, is referred to as a major name in African literature, whose bravery and determination has inspired several young Africans not to give up on their dreams.

The author of several literary works has, according to the publication, three international literary awards in his gallery, with emphasis on the biggest literary trophy in Latin America “WORD BOOK”, won on December 24, 2022 in the Best Novel category, the book “The Emigrant from the Web and his nonsense”.

It also included the “Literary Reference” award, with the same work on the subject of a young African writer, in a ceremony organized by the State University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), in addition to the Best Novel category of the II edition of the WBR International Literary Award from Latin America, with the book “The Recluse – the principle and end of an injustice”.

The magazine also describes the Angolan writer as the organizer of the literary prize, “Angola Lê” from the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and, at the same time, he won the Dipanda literary competition, in the category of best writer of the year, promoted by the National Youth Council (CPJ), in addition to organizing the 1st edition of the African Book Biennial – Angola 2024.

The sovereign Tchongolola Tchongonga – Ekuikui VI is described as the great king of the Ovimbundu tribe, specifically, the Kingdom of Bailundo, considered one of the strongest kingdoms.

It indicates that the sovereign has stood out in various actions, as he recently went to Brazil, where he visited several tribes of African origins, focusing on the project of rescuing people with roots in the continent “cradle of humanity”.

“They were evident in their approaches and long days in Brazil, the visit to the old villages that served as slave trade, constituting themes that ended up spreading in various parts of that country, as the Angolan king was received with pomp and circumstance and you could see the happy faces of African color with the sovereign’s visit, something that no other African king did”, writes the French magazine.

Distinguished, in 2023, with the Cultural Ambassador award during the Literary Reference award gala in Brazil, the French magazine considers Jeremias Piedade Chissanga, a former football player, as a fearless warrior and promoter of Angolan youth culture who has helped young people to find a taste for cultural arts.

In addition to the three Angolans, LE POINT magazine, Coize Matze (teacher and filmmaker, residing in Cameroon), Marisa Monte (Cape Verdean actress), Gouzema Foloi (Writer residing in Nigeria), Mandele Focam, (photographer residing in Ghana, Georgia Futi (Rwandan writer), Alice Walkerson (writer living in Botswana), Tola Okogwu (writer living in Niger), among others.
