Africa-Press – Angola. The need for continuous political consultation and the deepening of the partnership between Angola and Indonesia was defended this Tuesday, in Luanda, by the ambassador to this country, Florêncio de Almeida.

According to a press, this position was proposed in the meeting between the Angolan ambassador to Indonesia and the Indonesian honorary consul in the country, Sebastião Inácio.

For Florêncio de Almeida, the meeting was “timely and productive”, as it allowed the identification of specific actions that will significantly contribute to improving the climate of cooperation and business relations between the two countries.

For his part, honorary consul Sebastião Inácio announced the holding of a tourism forum and the second Indonesia/Africa forum, to be held in Bali, in May and August this year, respectively.

Relations in the fields of agriculture, manufacturing industry, tourism, fisheries, oil and mineral resources, trade, professional training and science and technology are part of the portfolio of priorities for the immediate future.

Relations between Angola and Indonesia are governed by three legal instruments, namely the general cooperation agreement in the economic, scientific, technical and cultural fields, the agreement on the reciprocal suppression of visas for holders of diplomatic and service passports and the memorandum of understanding of political consultations.

In 2017, they initialed the memorandum of understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Angola and its counterpart in Indonesia.

Other protocols of mutual interest are currently being negotiated.

Indonesia has been a partner in south-south cooperation since the Bandung Conference, held between April 18 and 24, 1955.

Since then, the two countries have maintained political relations, albeit indirectly, with political and diplomatic relations registering significant improvements on August 7, 2001.
