Africa-Press – Angola. Increasing the levels of combat preparation and instruction, for the readiness of personnel to respond to the great challenges of the moment, continues to be the main focus of the southeast military region.
This position was reaffirmed on Wednesday, in Menongue, by the commander of the southeast military region, Remígio do Espírito Santo, at the end of the visit by the minister of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, João Ernesto dos Santos “Liberdade”.
Another action to be taken as a priority, according to the officer, concerns discipline at troop level and the prevention of road accidents, as, he added, many soldiers drive vehicles and motorbikes and in some cases violate driving rules, causing many deaths, injuries and material damage.
Regarding the visit, he stated that it allowed him to see the difficulties that the region is facing, through a detailed x-ray of the main infrastructures, with emphasis on the military infirmary, the mess hall and the barracks construction works.
“The minister made an observation and guaranteed at his level to do something to improve both the living conditions of the troops and the infrastructure conditions”, he highlighted.
Regarding the possibility of building a military hospital from scratch, although the exact start date has not been announced, he informed that the land has already been provided by the provincial government, located in the Tucuve neighborhood, with drinking water and electricity.
This is the first official visit by the responsible minister since the former V Military Motorized Infantry Division was elevated to the category of Southeast Military Region.
