Africa-Press – Angola. International Master (IM) David Silva finished in fourth place, with six points, in the individual African Men’s Chess Championship, which ended on Wednesday, in Accra (Ghana).
In the event, held on the sidelines of the African Games that end on Saturday (23) in that country, the Angolan drew in the last round with the FIDE Master (MF) from Nigeria, Abdulrahman Akintoye.
The three-time African junior champion (Angola2014, Seychelles Islands2016 and Togo2017) recorded four wins, one defeat and four draws.
The other Angolan representative, MI Amorim Agnelo, was in 23rd position, with 4.5 points.
The competition, won by the Egyptian Grandmaster (GM), Bassem Amim, with 8.5 pts, had the participation of 42 chess players.
In women’s competition, Angolan Jemima Paulo came in sixth place, with 5.5 points, while Master FIDE (MF) Ednásia Júnior occupied 10th place, with 5 points, in a competition that saw the participation of 29 players.
South African chess player Jesse Rebruary won the competition in this class, with 7.5 points.
Remember, chess player Ednásia Júnior won the bronze medal at the African Games in the chess tournament, played from the 4th to the 11th of this month, a multidisciplinary event in which Angola competes in more than a dozen modalities.
