Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Parliament unanimously approved, this Friday, the Draft Resolution for the country’s accession to the Smart Africa Alliance Manifesto, which aims to transform the African continent into a single digital market.

The document was approved with 151 votes in favor, none against and without abstentions, during the 4th Ordinary Plenary Meeting of the 2nd Legislative Session of the V Legislature.

The manifesto establishes advantages in implementing information and communication technology development programs in mobilizing financial resources from partners and the private sector.

The Smart Africa Alliance is an International Non-Governmental Organization, made up of African countries that adhere to its manifesto of October 29, 2013, by the African Union (AU), Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), African Development Bank (ADB), World Bank (WB), International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and the Private Sector.

It is a platform that facilitates exchange and knowledge between its members, aiming to transform the African Continent into a single digital market and accelerate sustainable socio-economic development, through the use of information and communication technologies.

The legal instrument referring to the adherence of the Republic of Angola to the Smart Africa Alliance Manifesto, which was signed on June 29, 2022, by the former minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Manuel Homem, guarantees its members better access to broadband services.
