Africa-Press – Angola. Portugal’s ambassador to Angola, Francisco Alegre Duarte, reiterated this Friday, in Luanda, his country’s willingness to continue collaborating with the Angolan Government and civil society in creating jobs.
The diplomat made these statements to the press after leaving a meeting with the president of the National Youth Council (CNJ), Isaías Kalunga, and youth leaders.
He spoke about training programs for Angolan young people and teachers, within the scope of the Camões Institute, with funding from the European Union.
He highlighted that there are more than four thousand Portuguese companies exporting products to Angola, as well as one thousand and 250 Portuguese-Angolan institutions in the national territory. These institutions, including construction companies, create more than one hundred thousand jobs and form human capital.
He highlighted that in terms of trade, the numbers largely exceeded pre-pandemic levels, having reached a volume of exports from Portugal to Angola exceeding two billion euros, in 2023.
He mentioned that in terms of Portuguese investment in Angola, the net stock is around 1.6 billion euros.
On the occasion, the president of the CNJ, Isaías Kalunga, said that his institution will work so that more young Angolans can continue training at bachelor’s, master’s and technical-professional levels in Portugal.
He said that during the dialogue the possibility was opened for many young entrepreneurs to be supported by the Portuguese Embassy in Angola. The projects will be forwarded by the CNJ.
He highlighted that the actions carried out by the CNJ aim to help disadvantaged Angolan families, with scholarships, and more.
