Africa-Press – Angola. Brigadier Francisco Ndala Cativa, head of the Army Operations Directorate of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), encouraged, this Friday, university students to investigate more about the battles that took place in Angola, to learn lessons that will serve as basis for the defense of the country’s soil.
Francisco Ndala Cativa launched this challenge when he presented the lecture on the theme “The impact of the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale (BCC)”, within the framework of the 36th anniversary of this battle, to be marked this Saturday, March 23rd.
The brigadier argued that the greater the level of understanding young people have about the mental and patriotic strength of former combatants, as well as their strength and courage, the greater their interest in defending peace.
For the FAA general officer, students and the institutions to which they are linked must have the mission and obligation to truthfully replicate all the information inherent to the battle, whether to raise patriotic levels or to perpetuate history.
“The responsibility of research for the composition of history is the right of every citizen”, he highlighted, adding that universities have an increased responsibility in the matter.
Regarding the impact of the BCC, he said that it brought added value to the political and social aspects of the southern region of the African continent, in particular, and the world, in general.
He considered that remembering the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale presupposes making mandatory reference to the most critical moments in the history of courage and heroism of former combatants in defense of territorial integrity.
The occasion, according to the official, also represents an opportunity to permanently transmit the country’s most important facts, so that future generations do not betray what was built with the sweat and blood of the best children who contributed to turning the page.
On this second day of lectures preceding the event, more than two hundred students from the country’s 18 provinces had direct contact with the former commanders of some brigades and understood all the technical, tactical and operational nuances that led to victory.
