President of South Sudan pays working visit to Luanda

Africa-Press – Angola. The President of South Sudan, ​Salva Kiir Mayardit,​ starts this Tuesday, in Luanda, on a 48-hour working visit at the invitation of his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço.

According to a press release, the visit of the South Sudanese statesman is part of the mutual interest of sharing information regarding the peace process in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in harmony with the “Processes of Luanda​” and ​”Nairobi​”.

​As Acting President of the East African Community (CAO), Salva Kiir Mayardit​ goes with local authorities to address issues of the real state of the situation in that Southern African country.

Angola and South Sudan maintain excellent friendly and cooperative relations. Both are part of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), an organization created in 1994 with the aim of resolving issues of peace and security in the area.

​Upon his arrival, at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, Salva Kiir Mayardit received welcome greetings from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and other individuals present.
