Africa-Press – Angola. A set of artistic and cultural activities including musical shows, dance, theater, cinema and others are on the agenda of the event called “Special 22 Years of Peace”, to be held from the 2nd to the 7th of April, at the Palácio de Ferro , in Luanda.

The event aims to highlight the importance of achieving, preserving and consolidating peace, using art and culture, as vehicles for transmitting attitudes and behaviors to promote tolerance and coexistence in differences.

According to the general director of Palácio de Ferro, João Vigário, for this second edition it was decided to further expand the range of activities, with the new additions being three round table sessions, the screening of three films in six sessions and a multidisciplinary fair.

In relation to the round table, explained the person responsible, themes linked to the performing arts and associations in the arts will be debated, with the aim of providing a historical and current reading of what is being done at a cultural level to point out ways forward.

The general director informed that the fair is expected to feature 40 varied exhibitors, with emphasis on two women’s associations, namely the Angolan Association for the Rights and Inclusion of Women with Disabilities and the Associação Mulheres Agentes das Comunidades.

“We made an arrangement and we will have a multidisciplinary fair to allow everyone who has the chance to be here to produce something of quality to be shown and sold”, he reinforced.

With the screening of the films “The Restored”, “Mandela – The Road to Freedom” and “Njinga – The Queen of Angola”, the aim is to talk about the different forms of demonstrating peace, as explained by João Vigário.

However, it is expected to have around two thousand people during the five days, and, according to the general director, if half of this audience is made up of cultural operators, the main target will have been achieved.

The first edition took place from the 1st to the 4th of April 2023, in an initiative of the Palácio de Ferro Management, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Isaías Trindade Foundation.
