Africa-Press – Angola. Two lieutenant generals were graduated this Monday, in Luanda, to the rank of generals and sworn in as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).

The event was led by the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces, in a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace, in Luanda.

These are General José Maria Marques, for the position of Chief of the FAA’s Deputy General Staff for Patriotic Education and General Jaime Manuel Pombo Vilinga for the position of Chief of the FAA’s Deputy General Staff for the Operational and Development Area..

To the newly sworn in, President João Lourenço asked that with their knowledge and experience they help the Minister of Defense and the Chief of General Staff to reorganize the FAA, as well as to provide them with the capacity to better fulfill their mission. defending the independence and sovereignty of the country’s soil.

He recalled that the country has been experiencing peace for 22 years, but this does not mean that the responsibility of creating an increasingly greater capacity to defend the country should be neglected in the event of suddenly facing an undesirable situation.

He referred to possible acts of external aggression, terrorism and other threats that could jeopardize national sovereignty, peace and the well-being to which Angolans are entitled.

He asked them to take care, not only of the modernization of the FAA, in the sense of acquiring new equipment, but above all of the training of men at all levels so that they are capable of better serving the country.
