Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Lunda-Norte, Deolinda Satula Vilarinho, recommended (Monday) reinforced police action, especially in the periphery, aiming to prevent and effectively combat the vandalization of public assets, mainly in the energy sector.
The governor made this recommendation during the ordinary meeting of the local government, which analyzed the socio-economic situation of the province, revealing that the latest acts of vandalization of electrical equipment caused damage to the State valued at more than 20 million kwanzas.
A total of 30 poles, their respective public lighting systems and more than 500 meters of electrical cables were vandalized in the urban center, southern neighborhoods and Ngacumona (Dundo).
To avoid acts of this kind, the governor defended the need to reinforce police patrols on foot and motorized, as well as the collaboration of the population in reporting the promoters of acts of vandalism.
He appealed to churches, youth and philanthropic organizations to help the Government in raising awareness and raising awareness among the population about the consequences and/or losses of vandalizing public property.
On the other hand, he reiterated that the expansion of electrical energy will continue to be at the center of the local government’s priorities, a challenge that will be achieved with the entry into full operation of the Luachimo dam and the Lucapa photovoltaic plant, with installed powers of 34 and 7.19 megawatts, respectively.
