Africa-Press – Angola. Residents of the urban center and outskirts of Luena, in the province of Moxico, complain about irregularities in the supply of running water in recent days.

In a round carried out in the neighborhoods of Vila-Luso, Sangondo, Sinai-Velho, Sinai-Novo, Mandembwe and Alto-Campo, Zorró and part of the urban area, the population complains about the intermittent supply, sometimes every two weeks..

Erica Cassanga Nduwa, resident of the Sangondo neighborhood, considered the situation to be “quite critical”, stating that, given the irregularity, the inhabitants of that district have been purchasing the precious liquid daily from the tanker truck.

“Unfortunately in our neighborhood it only happens once a week, in a short period of time, we can’t even fill all the reservoirs”, he said, an opinion shared by citizen Teresa António, resident of the same neighborhood, stating that, even in the few minutes that it gushes, the liquid has not covered all residences in your area.

“We have already contacted the guardianship company to resolve the situation, as under these conditions it is difficult to carry out daily tasks”, complained the resident, who said that she spends 50 kwanzas daily to purchase 50 liters of water in homes with larger reservoirs.

Astride Sona, a resident of Mandembwe, requests the restoration of the normal supply of the liquid, according to the interlocutor, to reduce the population’s difficulties.

In reaction, young Marcelino Mahena said that his residence was deprived of the liquid for 15 days, showing himself dissatisfied with the situation.

Meanwhile, the President of the Board of Directors of the Provincial Water and Sanitation Company (EPAS) in Moxico, Eurico Jorge, promised to comment on this issue next Wednesday.

Currently, EPAS has a production and distribution capacity of 620 thousand liters/hour for 115 thousand people, covering 70 percent of the city and outskirts, through the Lumege River Catchment.
