Africa-Press – Angola. With the aim of fostering and promoting young talent across the country, the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) and the mobile phone company (Africell) established a partnership agreement this Tuesday, in Luanda.
Signed by the president of FAF, Artur Almeida e Silva, and the representative of Africell, Mário Nascimento, the program, to be implemented soon, will cover the formation of children’s teams in communities, serving as an incentive for the practice of mass sport.
To achieve this, the partner of the national football governing body will guarantee the necessary support and assistance, so that the young people covered have the conditions for positive activities.
After the meeting, the federative leader expressed joy for the partnership, considering it to be an added value that strengthens and achieves the purposes of the FAF, in enhancing the training levels.
In turn, the business manager highlighted that the agreement is based on two pillars, which are: recognition of the National Team’s commitment to international competitions, such as the African Cup of Nations (CAN), and the contribution to the training of future players.
On the occasion, Africell offered a prize of a Konekta 5G Router and a year’s subscription for each member of the National Team for their performance in CAN’ 2023, but played this year in Côte d’ Ivoire, where they reached the quarter-finals.
Despite having already achieved this classification in the same event, in the Ghana’ 2008 and Angola’ 2010 editions, this time, the numbers were completely unprecedented.
With seven points in the initial phase (Group D), the result of two victories (Mauritania (3-2), Burkina Faso (2-0) and a draw against Algeria (1-1), the National Team also scored six goals, conceded just three and saw two athletes named “Man of the Match”, namely Gelson Dala and Kialonda Gaspar.
