Africa-Press – Angola. The king of the municipality of Menongue, capital of the province of Cuando Cubango, Manuel Dala “Mwene Vunongue”, highlighted the free movement of people and goods as part of the main benefits of the peace, achieved by Angolans on April 4, 2002.
As part of the festivities marking 22 years of peace, celebrated this Thursday, Manuel Dala noted that the free movement of people and goods, in turn, brought with it “remarkable levels” of development in all aspects.
For the municipality’s highest traditional authority, in times of war there could be no talk of development, as all attention was focused on achieving peace, which consumed all resources, material, financial and human.
In addition to some paved roads, he said, there is the growth of school, airport and railway infrastructures, as well as the improvement and expansion of energy and water supply in the municipality.
“These are actions that the Government achieved because we have peace. The Executive must continue with the dynamics of development, despite the existence of few financial resources, but, gradually, it has done its job well”, he acknowledged.
Therefore, he advised youth to take advantage of all the training opportunities offered by the Government, so that they obtain skills to help the Executive in solving the most varied social problems.
He also demanded greater social responsibility from youth, avoiding the excessive use of alcoholic beverages and other drugs, as well as greater care and preservation of public assets, so that the Government can concentrate its investments and projects in other areas.
He condemned the misuse of social media by young people, which often ends up encouraging attitudes contrary to the premises of peace.
He highlighted that the role of traditional authorities and the message to society have been, firstly, focused on supporting their children in academic training and investing in the agricultural production component, as all fields that were once mined are now free of mines and ready for production.
