Africa-Press – Angola. The senior national judo team, both sexes, won 19 medals, of which seven gold, five silver and seven bronze, at the International OPEN that ended this Sunday, in Luanda.
In men, gold medals were Leonardo Barros (60 kgs), António Candeeiro (73 kgs), Adriano Tchissende (90 kgs), Pedro Edmilson (66 kgs) and Wilson Afonso (81 kgs).
In the women’s category, Maria Niangi and Andreza António won gold, achievements that place the hosts in first place in the general classification.
In the African competition, contested by 181 athletes from 21 countries, Bosnia, as a guest, occupied second place in the classification, with two gold medals, followed by Cameroon, with one gold.
The competition started on Thursday, with the junior level and Angola collected 36 medals, 11 gold, 10 silver and 15 bronze.
On Friday, in Cadetes, the national team won 23 medals, in a category that only included São Tomé and Príncipe, in addition to Angola.
National judokas won eight gold medals and five silver medals, against zero from their opponents.
Overall, the event had representatives from Angola, Burundi, Bosnia, Botswana, Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, DRC, Cape Verde, Gabon, Morocco, Malawi, Mozambique, Panama, Paraguay, São Tomé and Príncipe and Uruguay.
The African OPEN had the participation of competitors from other continents, as guests.
