Africa-Press – Angola. The general secretary of the Union of Evangelical Churches of Angola (UIEA), Reverend Lucas Zeferino, (Sunday) advised youth to strive for the defense and preservation of public goods, in order to contribute to the valorization of peace, achieved through April 4, 2002.
Lucas Zeferino was speaking at the solemn inauguration service of the leaders of the Youth sectors, the Biblical Institute and the Society of Men of the UIEA, held at the Pavilhão Gimnodesportivo de Menongue, capital of Cuando Cubango.
He advocated that Christian youth should be an example worthy of inspiration for society, through their conduct “filled with constructive attitudes”.
According to the pastor, youth must remain firm in worshiping God, maintaining a Christian stance and at the same time citizenship, with a focus on respect for public goods and State institutions, being part of the solution to the most varied problems.
For this reason, he also urged Christian youth to participate in the country’s economic and social development.
“We want a youth that not only worships God, but also values citizenship and peace. He does not vandalize public property and does not participate in riots”, he stressed.
During the ceremony, pastors Jonh Chinoia, Boa Ventura Bunge, Eduardo Fulai and Agostinho were sworn in, respectively, for the positions of director of the Menongue Biblical Institute (IBM), president of the Society of Men, national vice-president of the Men’s Sector , and national director of Youth and Adolescents at UIEA.
Those inducted committed to complying with and enforcing the biblical doctrine and the statutes of the church with zeal and dedication.
For his part, the provincial governor of Cuando Cubango, José Martins, considered the UIEA to be a historical and cultural heritage of the people, taking into account the results it has produced in a material and immaterial way for the benefit of the communities since it was installed in the province, in 1985.
He highlighted that there is a record of several moments in which the church intervened with charitable works in favor of the people, in addition to its commitment to rescuing moral values, and therefore expressed the Government’s commitment to continue supporting the work of the church for the development of the province.
He valued the choice of his province to host the central solemn act of inauguration, having congratulated those inaugurated on the new missions.
He promised that the Government will join the cause of the church to support the physical restructuring, so that the Biblical Institute, based in Menongue, has, in fact, a characteristic that allows it to train the workers and pastors who will help the Government to moralize society.
For the Directorate of Youth and Adolescents, he assured that the Government will provide the necessary support according to possibilities, to better fulfill the desires of youth, as they are the majority of the population and potential continuer of the country’s destinies.
“Everything must be done to address the concerns of youth, to strengthen and make them faithful substitutes and continuators of the work of economic development in the country and the province in particular”, he stressed.
