Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, received this Monday, in Luanda, the special envoy of his Kenyan counterpart, William Ruto, with whom he discussed issues related to the peace process in South Sudan.
At the end of the audience, held at the Presidential Palace, Charles Keter said he had come to Angola with the mission of informing the Angolan Head of State about the peace process in South Sudan, which is formally expected to begin, next week, in Kenya.
He explained that, currently, there is a revitalized 2018 peace agreement that is in the implementation phase and will end at the end of this year.
In this sense, he said, the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, asked his Kenyan counterpart to lead the negotiation process between the coalition government and all the forces that are part of it, as well as all others that are not signatories to this agreement..
Recently, the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, paid a 48-hour working visit to Angola at the invitation of his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço.
