Africa-Press – Angola. Huíla art makers are those who most adhere to the National Service for Copyright and Related Rights (SENADIAC), representing at least 70 percent of the 99 processes registered at the province level.
The information was provided Tuesday, in this city by the provincial representative of SENADIAC in Huíla, Joaquim Bernardo “Lélé”, after the seminar on the role of the service in the functioning of the National System of Copyright and Related Rights, addressed to directors and heads of the municipal culture section and local art makers.
The source, stated that the 99 processes registered by SENADIAC in Huíla, in the areas of literature, art and dance environments, are mostly from makers in the municipality of Lubango, with 98 and one from Humpata.
He mentioned that despite having a considerable number of processes, due to the 12 existing associations, cooperatives and cultural movements, which bring together more than 200 makers, “it is still not enough”, which is why holding the seminar for the municipalities to be able to encourage its artists to sign up to benefit from the benefits.
“We have already had meetings to talk about the subject in Humpata and Chibia, but due to travel difficulties we have not yet been able to reach other municipalities, but with these seminars the directors and heads of municipal sections are able to take the material to convey what is SENEDIAC exercises”, he stated.
He recalled that every event promoter, to promote a show, must have an approval on the artist’s copyright, endorsed by SENADIAC, to carry out the event, due to complaints from artists, about the existence of promoters who do the hiring. , without honoring commitments on time.
Among the strengths of SENADIAC, Joaquim Bernardo “Lele”, highlighted the protection of the author’s intellectual property, meaning that the user must respect the composer’s work.
In turn, the provincial director of the Huíla Office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, Osvaldo Lunda, highlighted the need for authors to register their works and then demand their rights.
SENADIAC, which has existed since 2018, is a State body with powers to manage the National System of Copyright and Related Rights. It has administrative, financial and patrimonial autonomy and collective management entities are associations to collect and distribute copyrights to their members.
