Africa-Press – Angola. The analysis of policies to promote socio-economic growth in Angola and food security were the dominant themes of the first day of the 8th Technical-Scientific Conferences of the Faculty of Economics of the Agostinho Neto University, which began this Wednesday, in Luanda.

The event, running until Friday, also includes panels with themes such as ‘Business strategies for economic sustainability’, ‘Angolan financial system and sustainable development’, ‘The contribution of accounting and auditing to the smooth functioning of the economy’ and ‘Human capital and sustainable development’.

For three days, academics will also reflect on issues related to the diversification of the productive structure, the impact of family farming, tourism as a triumph and challenge for the development of Angola, the role of entrepreneurship in the sustainability of the country’s economy, financing sustainable stock market, among others.

Regarding the technical-scientific days, the vice-rector of the Agostinho Neto University, João Baptista, said that the event will allow the creation of projects to accelerate the process of economic diversification and achieve sustainable development in Angola.

In the same vein, the dean of the Faculty of Economics of the Agostinho Neto University, Redento Maia, said that the objective of the event is to motivate the university community, with particular emphasis on economists, to contribute their opinions and suggestions for clarification and evaluation new approaches in management.

The academic recalled that the academy is to serve society, through the training of professionals in different areas of knowledge, to support the Government and private companies to devise better strategies for the country’s socioeconomic development.

He pointed to scientific research and the relationship between the university and society as factors that contribute to solving social and economic problems that Angola faces.

Therefore, Redento Maia called on the Angolan Government to establish policies and mechanisms, as well as a system of fiscal and monetary incentives aimed at strengthening relations between university and social institutions.

Under the motto ‘Strategies for a more sustainable economy’, the event, which brings together researchers, teachers, governments, students and civil society, covers a total of 32 themes, subdivided into five panels.
