Africa-Press – Angola. Registration for the creative children’s literature competition, called “Yola Castro”, runs until the 27th of this month.
Registration opened last Monday. Angolan citizens over 18 years of age, whether or not they are authors of children’s literature books published on the national market, can participate in the competition.
Authors must write a book of literature and send it to the organization in digital format, using the link https://forms.gle/n2z5XkgFXrLp1ijH7.
The printed format can be delivered on Saturdays, at the Contr’Ignorância Library headquarters, located in Rangel, Marçal neighborhood (in Luanda).
“The texts qualified at the time of registration will be evaluated and classified according to the originality and relevance, aesthetic, literary and written quality of the text, impact on society, as well as the contribution to national culture”, said Adilson Gonçalves, who is part of the organization of the award.
According to him, “Yola Castro” will only have one winning book. The jury may also award up to two honorable mentions depending on the quality of the books submitted.
The winner of the competition will be awarded a monetary value of 200 thousand kwanzas, publication of the work and subsequent distribution in libraries and schools.
The “Yola Castro Award” was created by the Contr’Ignorância Library with the aim of honoring the teacher, writer and storyteller Yola Castro, for her work in favor of education and national culture.
The aim of the prize is to select unpublished literary books, in the category of children’s and young people’s stories. With this selection, the organization aims to boost literary creative writing and promote reading habits.
The awards gala takes place on May 25th.
