Africa-Press – Angola. Clube Desportivo da Lunda-Sul consolidated its leadership of the First Division National Football Championship (Girabola2023/2024), by winning today, Wednesday, at the Álvaro Buta Stadium, in the city of Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire, São Salvador do Kongo, 1-0.
The goal of the match, referring to Girabola’s 19th round, was scored by Mussá, in the 35th minute.
The visiting team started the game threatening the goal defended by Valdez and, in the 35th minute, a header was scored, due to a failure in the defense of the team led by Finda Mozer.
Three minutes later, Guy, from São Salvador, responded with a strong shot from the edge of the opposing team’s penalty area, but the ball didn’t go in the right direction.
The first half was marked by a balance between the two teams, but it was the team from the east of the country that stood out, neutralizing São Salvador’s attacks.
At the restart, Finda Mozer, unhappy with the result, made a double substitution, placing Filhão and Filó in the places of Paracetamol and Loide.
With the entry of these two midfielders, the host team started to bother Desportivo da Luanda-Sul’s defensive sector more, creating several goal opportunities, but were unhappy with the finishing.
Technicians’ reactions
To the press, the coach of São Salvador do Kongo said that his team entered the first half of the match apathetically, a situation the visitors took advantage of to score the only goal of the game.
“We tried to improve in the second half with the changes made in the starting 11, but, unfortunately, luck was not on our side. We will continue to work towards the next challenges”, lamented Finda Mozer.
In turn, the coach of Desportivo da Lunda-Sul, Maurílio Silva, said that even with the pressure from the home team, his pupils did everything they could to add three more points in the Girabola league table.
With this result, São Salvador do Kongo continues with the same points (19), while Clube Desportivo da Luanda-Sul now has 41 points.
On the 20th round, the São Salvador team will travel to the province of Cuanza-Sul, to face Recreativo do Libolo, while Desportivo da Lunda-Sul will host Recreativo União de Malanje.
