Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Finance, Vera Daves, reiterated Thursday, the State’s continuous work to present public accounts on time and with quality, one of the goals to be achieved by 2026/2027.

The government official, who was speaking at the days commemorating the 23rd anniversary of the creation of the Court of Auditors, indicated that some work has already been done in the public business sector, but that it must be continued and reinforced.

He assured that at the level of the budgetary units there is already sensitivity and awareness for this financial presentation exercise, meaning that the time and quality components still need to be calibrated.

The other assumption highlighted by the minister is transparency, which means doing better.

“In the capital market, transparency is the key to business, otherwise you pay the consequences”, he highlighted.

To this end, he pointed out planning and the priority of choosing spending with the key sector of the process, and recently the Executive took the decision to have a ministerial Planning department, because it understood that planning promotes good budget execution.

“We have to take into account that resources are scarce, the country has a set of needs, all legitimate”, he stressed.

For Vera Daves, the public manager must understand the budget execution rule and the consequences of not complying with them, for a stronger organization in relation to the dynamic infraction consequence.

It exemplified some work already carried out at this level in the country, such as the case of companies publishing accounts on their websites, the fact that institutions contracted for the Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM) are going through a public tender and the privatization program (PROPRIETARY).

The simplification and automation of State bodies’ accountability models, the adoption of international public accounting standards and the updating of the State’s chart of accounts were also highlighted as challenges.

The day commemorating the 23rd anniversary of the Court of Auditors in Angola, which takes place this Friday, takes place under the motto “23 Years, promoting Transparency and Responsibility in Public Finances”.

The event features guests from the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and covers, for three days, topics such as “Good practices in budget execution”, “Results and benefits of inspection” and “Type of control by the Court of Auditors over the public contractual activity”.
